ASUS has presented the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ, a gaming monitor that its ROG Global Twitter account started teasing a few days ago. As its name suggests, the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ has a 42-inch OLED, making it a smaller alternative to the also new ROG Swift OLED PG48UQ. Incidentally, LG already sells the UltraGear 48GQ900, the specifications fort which we have outlined in a recent article covering its European launch.
According to ASUS, the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ outputs at 4K and has a 138 Hz refresh rate. If the panel is anything like the one LG includes in the UltraGear 48GQ900, the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ will operate at 120 Hz by default. Additionally, ASUS claims that the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ delivers 98% DCI-P3 colour space coverage with Delta E <2 colour deviations and 0.1 ms GtG response times.
Moreover, ASUS has applied a 'special anti-glare micro-texture coating' across the large panel. In other words, the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ has a matte finish, unlike comparable Smart TVs. Furthermore, ASUS states that it has included an optional uniform brightness setting for maintaining luminosity levels when altering the size of bright white windows or during gaming sessions. Separately, the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ comes with HDMI 2.0, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort (DSC) connections, plus a USB hub and a tripod socket. So far, ASUS has only confirmed that the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ will be available in North America from 'late Q3' for US$1,399.
