Lenovo has already confirmed that it will add a new (if plainer than usual) premium Android smartphone to its Legion brand on August 18, 2022. Now, it has added that it will not stop there and launch a new headset under the same familiar name in gaming alongside the long-awaited Y70.
The appropriately-named VR700's design has been unveiled ahead of this event, revealing a fairly standard viewer/controller combo, albeit one with the Legion brand and industrial design front and center. Lenovo has yet to specify whether it will be wireless or not; however, its Snapdragon XR2 SoC argues strongly in favor of the former.
Inside, the Legion VR700 is touted to ship with "4K RealRGB" display technology, although, again, its maker has made no mention of other specs such as OLED yet. Then again, it is now certain to sport a "high" refresh rate, 6DoF head-tracking as well as the "iQUT 2.0 standard" that may presage the ability to recreate the experience of a big-screen TV.
Therefore, the VR700 might turn out as capable of streaming content in addition to support for fully-immersive gaming. Lenovo has, of course, chosen to wait until its formal launch to reveal pricing for the new addition to the extended-reality arena.
