Shazam! Fury of the Gods was originally set to arrive this month, April but with Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2022 film slate getting revised, director David F. Sandberg has a little more time on hand to shape up the Zachary Levi starring DC film sequel. Admittedly, a new report reveals Shazam 2 is headed for minor reshoots.
Shazam 2’s reshoots is expected to begin in “a week or two” as reported by Big Screen Leaks. Though the news comes as a surprise, it seems the additional photography does not involve tampering with the story but rather fixing existing technical errors.
Reshoots typically scream red flags though it’s arguably exaggerated in many cases of film projects so Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ reshoots shouldn’t indicate any concern. Furthermore, details from the insider state it “won’t last very long and its just to touch up some stuff. Additionally, another reliable insider social media account, Atlanta Filming, revealed the reshoots for Shazam 2 is due to “post contemporianist mic placement and smudgey dialog. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a long-awaited sequel to 2019’s origin flick, Shazam! Though the wait to experience the second installment has extended out to this late fall. So far, DC fans have only been treated to a behind-the-scenes clip showing the Shazam family, also featuring highlighted commentary from the director, titular star Levi, Producer Peter Safran and from new cast members like Helen Mirren, Grace Fulton and more.
Sandberg has in the past addressed fan Q&As regarding the making of Shazam 2. On one instance, the Lights Out director expressed his excitement over the final results of CGI sequences. The aforementioned BTS video also shows glimpses of visually pleasing concept arts, which in live-action require the touch of “some of the top VFX vendors in the world,” as the director put it.
“One thing I'm really excited about is how a lot of the visuals are turning out. There's some really cool stuff in it by some of the top VFX vendors in the world.”⚡️
